Empowering Young Climbers

About Project Ascend

Project Ascend started from something I noticed through my own experience with climbing.

When I’m on the wall, I’m not really thinking about anything else. I’m focused on the next hold, the next move, and figuring out how to get through a route. Climbing forces you to be present, and it also pushes you to do things that can feel uncomfortable or scary.

Over time, I realized that was one of the main reasons I liked climbing so much. It helped me become more comfortable with failure, more willing to push myself, and better at staying focused on what was right in front of me.

That made me want to share the experience with younger kids.

Project Ascend is meant to give kids the chance to try climbing in a fun, supportive environment, especially kids who may not have had the opportunity to climb before. The goal is not to turn anyone into an expert climber. It is simply to help them try something new, challenge themselves, and hopefully come away feeling a little more confident.

Our Mission

Project Ascend gives younger kids the opportunity to experience rock climbing while building confidence, focus, and resilience along the way.

Why Climbing?

Climbing is fun, but it can also teach you a lot without really feeling like a lesson.

Sometimes you get stuck on the same move over and over again. Sometimes you're nervous to go higher. Sometimes you fall and have to start again. You learn to keep trying. You learn that being scared does not always mean you should stop. And when you finally finish something that seemed impossible a few attempts earlier, it feels pretty rewarding. Those are the kinds of experiences I want kids to have through Project Ascend.

The Goal

At the end of the day, Project Ascend is about giving kids a chance to climb, have fun, and push themselves a little outside of their comfort zone. If they leave feeling more confident than when they walked in, then we did what we came to do.

One climb at a time.
